Forget What Your High School English Teacher Taught You When It Comes To Writing Marketing Articles For Your Health Club Business.

Three grammar rules you must break if you want to communicate one-on-one with more future customers.

No school teacher ever had to make a living selling anything.  So the writing rules that have been passed down for centuries are for academia. And not for the business of selling.

So burn your English textbooks.  Forget about that C-grade you got for not following proper grammar rules.  And ignore all those red pen marks all over your paper.

“Sales writing means writing like you speak.

It’s salesmanship in print.”

So break these rules and make more sales.

1. Ending a sentence with a preposition

Definition: A preposition is a short explanatory word that indicates things such as location, direction and possession: “with,” “to,” “under,” “over,” “by” and “for” are all prepositions.

Where did this idea come from?

Many writers, in an effort to keep from pissing off there old English teacher, start twisting their sentences around so they do not end with prepositions.

The problem is this makes the sentence hard to read.  This forces the sentence to sound WEIRD.  Because this is not how people communicate in real LIFE.

When communicating a message from one human being to another.  It’s quite all right to end a sentence with a preposition.

2. Beginning a sentence with “and” or “but”

Somebody, somewhere, once decided that you shouldn’t begin sentences with conjunctions.  But when communicating an important message from one human being to another.  It’s perfectly all right to start your sentences with “and” or “but.” It’s a great way to grab attention and emphasize a point.

3. Splitting infinitives

Your English teacher had the strict rule that you’re not allowed to let another word come between “to” and its verb?

Example: “To go boldly where no one wants to go.” It’s a much more powerful and natural way to communicate it. “To go boldly where no one has gone.”

If it sounds more like you would speak, then split the infinitive!

Don’t cling to the School rules just because your high school English teacher told you to. Your teacher was just a government employee working for 20 years to get her pension.

If you are not working for a retirement pension. Then do not let a high school English teacher EDIT the articles you write for your Health Club Fitness Center Website Business.
